Swansea’s advanced manufacturing sector is closely linked to green and digital technologies.

The right sites, premises and people are here in Swansea for investors to hit the ground running. Plans being brought forward by Swansea Council will see advanced manufacturing take centre stage with the development of the new facility at the existing Fabian Way Park and Ride which will manufacture high-tech batteries to store solar power.

 

Both Swansea University and UWTSD play a huge role in driving forward advanced engineering and manufacturing. UWTSD’s MADE Cymru initiative provided R&D support to industry as well as a variety of upskilling opportunities for over 300 students in advanced manufacturing and disruptive technologies.

 

The new Swansea University Bay Campus is an innovation hub for collaborative research in Advanced Engineering, Digital Economy and Low Carbon. It has worked on collaborative projects with the likes of Rolls Royce and TATA Steel.

 

Swansea benefits from a wealth of development sites suitable for advanced manufacturing businesses. Parc Felindre, just five miles to the north of Swansea city centre, is prime business development land with immediate availability. The site as been earmarked for emerging industries and high-tech manufacturing.

Both universities offer advanced manufacturing learning pathways.

Swansea is home to advanced manufacturers including Cyden, SIC and Hydratech.
