Swansea is a hub for the creative industries and has a particular strength in the growing CreaTech sector.

VR developer, Immersifi, is a prime example of a Swansea CreaTech company that is pushing the boundaries in the creative sector. Affiliated with Swansea University, Immersifi is developing VR solutions for the healthcare sector.

 

As well as strong focus on creative technology, there is also a vibrant arts scene here that encapsulates jobs in performance, AV, lighting, development and production. This has only been boosted with the opening of Swansea Arena. As well as music and theatre venues, Swansea is home to many galleries, museums and creative spaces that allow ideas to flourish and art to be created.

 

Swansea is frequently used as a backdrop for major television and film productions including the recent BBC Men Up drama as well as Dr Who and DaVinci’s Demons.

 

The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) has worked with over 500 businesses in the creative industries to forward research, learning and IP development through its Creative Industries Research and Innovation Centre (CIRIC).

 

Swansea Council has recently launched a Creative Swansea Network designed to connect professionals in the creative industries to foster collaboration and shared skills. Through a series of networking events and workshops, the Creative Swansea Network will help like-minded businesses to discover opportunities to work together and attract inward investment.

Swansea Arts Weekend will attract thousands of visitors to the area to showcase the best in music, dance, art installations and immersive events.

Swansea’s creative industries include design, architecture, marketing, advertising, publishing, museums and galleries as well as performance.
