As part of the Swansea Bay City Deal, the region is benefitting from £175m investment in digital infrastructure.

Swansea Council has recently partnered with Freshwave to install small cell technology in street lighting throughout the city centre to help boost network capacity at busy times.

 

The small cells also support the potential implementation of other technology to monitor air pollution and manage smart bins. Swansea is future-proofing itself and the Digital Infrastructure Programme is expected to boost the regional economy by £318m.

 

Swansea is a UK pioneer of new GFast broadband technologies which improves speed and connectivity. 

 

Swansea University’s Computational Foundry links academia and industry to drive research into computational and mathematical sciences. Its focuses on cyber security, health technologies and increasing the use of digital in everyday life. It has already made Swansea a hub for for computational scientists and industrial partners.

 

The Digital Technology sector is growing, with many new enterprises emerging in Swansea, showing investors that Swansea is a great place to launch a business.
