Swansea City AFC and Ospreys Rugby are the leading football and rugby teams in a city that loves sport. The Championship football team regularly attracts sell-out crowds at the Swansea.Com Stadium and the Osprey’s new home at St Helen’s will see a new chapter for the city’s premier rugby team.

 

Swansea boasts exemplary sporting facilities including a wealth of gyms, a 50m swimming pool, a leisure centre complete with a waterpark and an outdoor network of walking and cycling routes.

Music and Arts

The city is home to arts and music and event venues such as The Brangwyn Hall, The Grand Theatre, The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery and the Dylan Thomas Theatre which attract world-renowned artists and performers.

 

Opened in 2022, Swansea Arena, is the latest cultural venue to open its doors in the city. The venue which is connected to the city centre via a new uniquely designed and impactful bridge has a capacity of 3,500 and attracts big names from the comedy, theatre and music world. More than 350,000 people have attended events there since it opened.

Events

Swansea’s landscape and coastal location is a natural theatre and plays host to many sporting and cultural events each year. The most significant is the annual Wales Air Show which attracts over 200,000 visitors to the city each July.

Shopping

There are 800 businesses in the city centre with a mixture of national and independent retail brands. The jewel in the crown of Swansea City Centre is Swansea Indoor Market which won the Best Large Indoor Market at the 2024 National Association of British Market Authorities Awards.

 

Some major names have been operating in Swansea for several years including Zara, Marks & Spencer, H&M, River Island and Primark. The city’s Quadrant Shopping Centre is home to more 40 shops with a mixture of national brands including Schuh, Boots, Superdrug, The Entertainer and WH Smith as well as a selection of local independent businesses such as The Clothing Culture and Rugby Heaven.
